Tikal is the largest excavated site in Americas. It is the cultural and natural reserve most famous Guatemala. This majestic archaeological gem comprises 576 miles square of forest around the ceremonial center. University of Pennsylvania took 13 years to discover about 16 square miles of structures at Tikal. However, much of this site has been unearthed. The archaeological site was a mystery for centuries after it was abandoned, presumably, soon by the Maya 1,000 years ago and covered by a relentless rain. It was a discovery made by Ambrosio Tut, a collector.
